Represent/Simplify question

Ok...I used to use this mapkey in Wildfire 2.0 and now in 4.0.

mapkey v` @MAPKEY_LABELmove view;#VIEWS;#MOVE VIEW;

I would use it to access the REPRESENT option and then SIMPLIFY. It opens a temporary window of the model which prompts you to select what features you want to remove from views and the model tree. In the past I could select a feature (in my case from a group called "machining"), and it would remove that whole group, thus allowing me to make a "casting" drawing from the same model as I would from the machining. Problem is, that now it won't select the whole group, only individual features and typically there are too many features to select one by one.

Does anyone have any ideas on the proper way to go about this now. I know that by using a hidden and antiquated view menu (try out the mapkey and see)....that I would eventually get myself in trouble.

How about using the View Manager to create a Rep of the part that = excludes certain features. Then you add this Rep as a drawing model and = do views based on it. This is functionality that got added sometime in = the Wildfire series, I believe.

Thanks David, I tried that as an alternative and I was able to do exactly what you said, however I could not modify any of our existing views. This means hundreds of our drawings are now unmodifiable and would have to be re-created from scratch which is unacceptable. Plus the group of features in a rep could not be "turned on or off" at any given time. I was on with PTC tech support yesterday and of course they had no answers.

So if anyone sees this this post and your company deals with casting/machining drawings....let me know how you guys do it. I doubt we are the only company that uses Pro/E that makes casting and machining prints from the same model.
