Spacemouse Driver Issues

Jul 11, 2006 3 Replies

I'm having issues with my ancient spacemouse plus (serial) on Wildfire

2.0, running on windows XP. The only driver available from the
3dconnexion site is "3dxsoftware 2.8.1". It starts up and works fine at first, but:

-there is no "3DxProEngineer" menu in Pro/e as the help file says there should be

-if I push any of the buttons on the space mouse, it stops working

So basically I can't adjust the sensitivity, use the buttons, or find a way to place the spin center, which is very annoying.

Anyone have any old drivers or tips before I fire up the credit card for a new spaceball?

I just started dealing with the spacepilot which I believe is very similar. I think you've lost your protk.dat file from the C:\ptc\proeWildfire3\text (or appropriate) directory.

It shoul look something like this:

name 3DxProENGINEER startup dll exec_file C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion Plug-In for ProENGINEER\$PRO_MACHINE_TYPE\obj\3dxproe.dll text_dir $TEMP\3DxProENGINEER end

For some reason yet unknown to me the file seems to get altered somewhere in time; maybe during an upgrade. I haven't spent any time with it yet to figure this out.

As an added note I have a brand new spacepilot in the box I'm trying to sell/ I already have 2. One at home and one at work.

thanks

Hmm, nope, that file is there and the contents are intact.

Any opinions on the 'spacetraveler' ? A search revealed not a mention in this group...

they built the spacepilot around it. from what they told me. same controlling mech.
