New Robot Product - BASIC Platform

Hi

Just got an email from parallax.com saying they have a robot product called the Scribbler for USD $89. If you are into BASIC programming:

( I prefer C, but it's good to be multilingual ) then this looks like excellent value. It has a nice look to it, adequate sensors, a BASIC Stamp II MCU, and even stall sensors.

For younger roboteers,it has a programming paradigm analagous to that of standard Lego Mindstorms.

Looks like a great package, considering you get programming IDE, in-circuit programming, MCU and robot platform. I expect there is excellent support and info for this product, as with parallax's other products.

Overall, I think it is a package hard to beat for the beginning hobby roboteer or for schools.

Looks like a good package.

I'm curious, what do you mean by a "programming paradigm"?

Hi Joe

Maybe I should have replaced that with "programming model". Wiith Lego Mindstorms programming language, the programmer clicks on and drags code components to form a program. This assists kids, or even beginners to learn programming. The Scribbler uses a similar model. Alternatively, it can be programmed in BASIC.
