Another promotion idea

You know, NASCAR (or atleast some of the drivers) may be willing to throw some publicity our way. They have been working with NASA for several years on different projects. They work with a lot of worthy causes where kids are concerned (Tony Stewart just donated $1M to the Petty camp for kids).

Think of the sponsors that are associated with NASCAR. Tide (Discover Channel Rocket Challenge advertiser), Home Depot (all the tools and supplies we use), UPS (all the shipping we do), DeWalt (tools), etc.

The popularity of NASCAR combined with hobby rocketry could be a win-win situation.

Alright, let's run with this.

What's in it for NASCAR?

The HAZMAT fees and not being able to ship motors personally...

Yeah, think of the great publicity if Kyle Petty won a major race by lighting a rocket motor and blasting past the leader for a last-second victory!

a couple p motors on the back of the car would be a interesting way to get someone out of your draft.

The sanctioning body doesn't want them faster, they want parody (mediocrity) as a show for the fans.......technology is discouraged in nascar......onboard computers are a no no, infrared sensors to warn of tire failure is a no no, telemetry is a no no.......remember when the taxi cabs get too fast they fly, so do they want flynow.com on their hood? ;-) IRL is technology based, but the billboards are not as large. We would have to go in as a sidebar to a NASA promotion.......

Which brings up a question I've had for some time.......do the beer sponsored cars run better in the draught?

I believe you meant to say "parity." Although it can be argued that NASCAR is a parody of "real" auto racing (e.g. CART, Indy and F1.)

There is no rational reason for that. If autos are not required to placard for "personal use" does that also apply to mail and commercial carriers? Ask DOT That!

If not, why not?

How about NAR or ARSA or IEAS simply take up my suggestion and get a brown box DOT exemption for all 1.4 items and safer up to 25 kg per shipment or something.

Whoops, must have been a Freudian slip..... :-) ......I hope the masses keep going tothe taxi cab races, the IRL races are much more comfortable crowdwise.......but it looks like you won't have CART to kick around anymore.

One battle at a time. Right mow we've got as much as we can handle with the BATFE. Once we kick their butts (and get our legal expenses reimbursed by the JBGTs - that WAS requested in the lawsuit!) we should again take on shipping regulations.

But considering what NAR is doing in the meantime (requesting ATF permits for exempt motors) I fear them getting anywhere near DOT.
