Apollo XI

Hello,

A bunch of folks over on rec.collecting.coins were discussing the 'reverse' (tails) side of the Eisenhower/SBA dollar coins and it occurred to me that the 35th anniversary of the Apollo XI landing is coming up. A lot of folks think it's the best design ever on the reverse of a US coin. I was surprised - in a good way.

Planning anything exciting?

Stocking up on those soon-to-be-melted-down SBA dollar coins with the Apollo XI eagle landing on the moon?

I'm still waiting to see someone fly the Apogee Saturn V at our local launches. I hope they don't all stay closeted.

Also, the Florida State Quarters finally arrived in Los Angeles banks yesterday. They feature a Space Shuttle Orbiter coming in for a landing. You will want to get a few hundred of those.

Slightly after the event, but if all goes well, I'll be doing my UKRA L3 on a Skunkworks Saturn V late September - it's the best way I could think of to complete the circle of inspiration and achievement.

It's now coated in a nice thick layer of 2-part epoxy primer, which has cured perfectly. Sanding will begin next week, followed by the start of building. Hopefully it'll be a good way towards being ready in time for static displaying at the Waddington airshow at the end of June.

Still got to go to the gunshop and buy 'approx. 22lbs' of shot for a caviar noseweight.
