This happened several weeks ago. Ken was at NERRF last Saturday, so hasn't been sent away to the Black Hole. From what I understand (little), the issues were more around proper recordkeeping than anything else. Of course, that doesn't mitigate how serious this might be for him.

I heard they visited at least one hobby shop in Indiana and asked for similar records. The hobby shop "just said no".

That hobby shop owner can expect some IRS (or similar) trouble in the near future.

The shop sold no regulated materials. The JBGTs had no warrant. Even if they did, there were no records to turn over.

Not required. The pyrotechnics community is having its own troubles with the CPSC. Two organizations (PGI and The Fireworks Foundation) that stepped up to help a chemical supplier defend themselves in court found themselves subject to a tax audit on the recommendation of an unnamed agency. Almost certainly the CPSC.

Has anyone written to the Washington Times to correct their reference to APCP as a "federally regulated explosive" ?
