Launch Rods at LDRS

Jul 11, 2003 2 Replies

I thought I'd try to address this here before I burden KLOUD BUSTER's with more work prior to prep for LDRS.

Does anyone know if the front pads handling the motors up through H will have launch rods atleast 4'? Last year at LDRS it seemed a consortium of clubs pitching in to help and I'm sure it was overlooked, but there were no rods longer than 3' that could be found at those pads.

I was concerned flying my sons Arreaux on a Black Jack motor with rod speed. Many of the rockets flown should have longer rods for safety.

Anyone heard first hand what might be the case?

There will be plenty of rods at each of the pads in operation. I believe there will be every size rod proximate to every pad to the extent that every rocket on the bank can fly with the same dia. rod. This includes 1/4"X4' and 8020 rails. I forgot what the order was for the various sizes, but there will be plenty. Maybe no 4 lengths smaller than 1/4" dia. Too much rod whip with rods longer than 3' and less than 1/4". If you have lugs smaller than 1/4", perhaps the rocket should be fitted with rail buttons or

1/4" lugs. Or use a harder-hitting motor. ;-)

Understandable on less than 1/4", but last year, they only had 1/4" x 3' rods. None any longer on the front pads.

Good to hear that there will be 4' x 1/4" rods there.

We'll see ya next week. Just look for the Purple Dynacom Anaconda prep'ing for L3 :)
