Decal with Canon BJC-7000

Hi all,

I have a Canon BJC-700 since today. I would like to know if the special ink developped for this printer is good for decals.

On paper, the results are really great, better with my other printer, an inkjet one. When I print on paper, water doesn't wash the ink, but I don"t know if it would be the same result on decal sheet.

Does someone use this printer to draw his own decals?

Hi Chris,

It's not so much the printers you have to worry about, it is the decal papers you are using, some are inkfast once you print them off (ie. the ink won't run off once you immerse the decals in water) others require some sort of clear coat varnish after you have printed them onto the paper to stop the ink running. I have tried both and they do work although with one brand paper I had to do a coat of clear varnish onto the paper prior to printing to stop water getting in from underneath the decals causing ink seepage once they were immersed in water and applied to the model. (This did not normally show up until the decal was applied to the model and had dried out fully, even with sponging with absorbent tissue paper, seepage of the ink was evident)

Hope this helps, there are several different brands of decal paper out there so give them a go.
