Dragon 1/35 German rail gun kit review?

God help me if I actually buy another big model despite having a huge backlog of unbuilt kits, but this thing just looks way too cool to pass up (of course, so did the other big kits I have, but I digress). I simply must have this kit if it's any good, but I've never seen it built, nor have I talked to anyone who has built it. For that matter, I haven't even seen the parts on the sprues. Can anyone share their experiences with this kit? Can it be built straight from the box with good results or will I need to buy additional add-ons such as photo etched parts? How many hours are we looking at for assembly if I do decide to get it? Thanks in advance for your help.

OK, now I'm really ingrigued. I didn't realize a Trumpeter kit was in the works. Any additional info you can give me, such as expected release date, price, etc?

Both kits are out now. The DML one is about $30 less than the Trumpeter one (DML retail is about $99.95 and the Trumpeter one is $129.95). Both can be found at lower prices if you search around.

The biggest differences is that there are different ways to assemble the barrels, and the Trumpeter one has about 300 more parts to it including part of the aiming system (a track set at a T to the mainline).

Having visited the Great Models site and followed the review link it looks like I've partially answered my own question. Here's a side-by-side comparison of the Dragon and Trumpeter kits:
