Without any disrespect - she must have married young. 2003-79=1924. She was only 20 in '44!

It doesn't sound that far-fetched. The young were heavily involved in the war. It was their world at the time.

My mom was 18 when she married. If I ever need to figure her age I simply add 18 years to my own. When I was a teen my friends sometimes made comments of how young and "hot" my mom looked. You go Mom! Cheers, Max Bryant

Born in the 20's, grew up in the 30's, matured in the 40's--that generation matured early, and stayed mature. We'll never have as many 50-60 year anniversary marriages as we have now.

Yours beat mine by two years...mine was 20. I'm 43 now and she still gets mistaken for my "girlfriend" on occasion. She's STILL "hot".

Love ya, Ma.

Must of been something for Mr. Drucker having to deal with Bong's ghost all this time. Imagine that's the case with alot of celebrity marriages though. Funny thing though, she was known to us solely because of that poster lacquered to the side of Bong's P-38 which was then immortalized in plastic by Revell. All through childhood, we knew that model kit and the wild picture on the box with a woman's portrait on the plane which was running only on one engine and an Oscar in hot pursuit - that other P-38 better catch up fast!. Boy, how that Revell boxart inspired my imagination.

They had a very nice story in the Milwaukee Journel-Sentinal about her. Frony page and all. Wish I had saved it. Sounds like she was one classy lady.......................Joe

I seem to recall that Dick Bong lied about his age (like may enlistees of the time) to get into the service. Marriage at 20 in the 1940's was not only common, it was probably considered a little old, especially in the rural areas of the country. I had the pleasure to meet Marge a couple of times, and she was a very gracious lady. Sorry to hear of her passing.

Heck, that's nothing. My best friend's mom was only 14 years older than him - talk about a 'fantasy mom' (or a MILF). She drove a lot of us to distraction...
