That I don't know... it wasn't a real ship, but a facade built around a barge. On the other hand, the Interceptor from that movie is a real ship. It's the Lady Washington and it recedes in Grays Harbor (Washington state) area.

I think there are references galore on the Lady Washington.

From what stills I seen, you could go with the Bounty or Surprise. But the three lanterns on the back may lend you to some parts sources (ornamentation) to improvise.

Googling BlackBeard shows some strong similarities

Maybe a PRINS WILLEM

or WAPPEN VON HAMBURG

But "the SIRENE" seems to fit the bill of a pirate/renegade boat..small and agile, not many guns

"The BERLIN"

Its your call. Best I can do on short notice.

From the stills, it wouldn't have the crow's nest on the bowsprit/jib boom. Not saying that it could be left off.

Participated in a campaign to get decent movie tie-in kits for the movie. Never got a commitment, just requests for ideas.

If they have actually done the Black Pearl and to 1/72 scale to boot (!!!!!) maybe they listened this time.

BTW, the old Revell Captain Hook Pirate Ship (I think it's the one shown in the earlier post, the "Jolly Roger") is a 1/72 scale model of the attraction that used to be in Disneyland. The Strombecker Rocket To the Moon (re-poped by Glencoe as the Mars Liner) kit is a 1/72 scale model of the original structure at Disneyland. It was replaced years ago by a smaller version.

As both of these were not operational vehicles we listed them under the Structures catagory in ESM72. Disney also produced a beautiful 1/72 scale version of the rocket as a nightlight with a suitable backdrop in resin about three years back.

If anybody out there has any of the Disney logo kits available please keep me in mind.

That's the Disneyland Pirate ship; the molds are probably older than you are. It's not modelled on a real ship--look at the depth below the waterline; that thing would capsize on wet grass. Look at "Master and Commander"--the Surprise is HMS Rose and the French privateer is a CGI Constitution. Not a lot of imagination in these movie types and the Black Pearl is probably based on something floating in the studio tank, which may have been based on a real ship.

Count DeMoney wanted to know WHAT current models are available that resemble the Black Pearl. A few were posted earlier in the thread.

PRINZ has too many guns... BERLIN comes very close, save the lookout on the jib boom... SIRENE would be my choice. I'd study the film on dvd, gatherup some raw stock and go with it.

Just another little footnote on the Disneyland ship.

For years the rumor was that it was being sent to one of the other parks. The truth is that the structure had been sitting directly in the water and almost all of the wood up to just below the inside floor was badly damaged by dry rot. It was scrapped. :-(

If the Jolly Roger is available again I should buy one. I guess that it does not have any Disney logo, but maybe I can find an old box somewhere. That's how I got my Aurora Cheyenne helicopter, one section at a time, parts, instructions, decals box.

The Lindberg Jolly Roger is really a model of the French 30-gun frigate La Flore. Not only does this ship postdate the golden age of piracy, but it's really not the kind of ship that would be suitably used by pirates. The Smer Black Falcon would be a much more typical pirate ship.

The Smer "Black Falcon", that's the ancient Aurora "Black Falcon", right? I had a copy of that once. Its almost complete, but has NO sails at all (at least my copy). More recently, I saw it (and several old former Pyro moldings) for sale at a local pet store done up as shipwrecks. The Aurora entry was in two complete pieces and all were set up with air hoses inside for the bubblers.

Another footnote to digest:

The Disneyland ship Columbia was decked out as the Black Pearl for the premier with tattered black sails and a few other odds and ends. I should have taken pictures, but since there is no model of her no big deal.

The Disney Mark Twain riverboat is now out in Z Gauge as part of the Disneyland series from Bob Olszewski. Diecast with some of the finest detail I have ever seen. He is doing the entire length of Main Street with the train station at one end, castle at the other end, all of the buildings and both squares. All are lighted and will come off of their bases to fit into the entire diorama when the table becomes available.

He also does some of the attractions. So far they include the teacups, entrance to Tomorrowland (current), Jungle Cruise, Mark Twain, Haunted Mansion and other on the way. The only problem with an entire park (aside from needing a bigger garage) is that Main Street is done as it was on opening day while the rides are current.

N Gauge modelers have been buying some of the accessories as Bob uses N Gauge for vehicles and figures to provide a bit of forced perspective. There is a horse-drawn trolly, an omnibus and a touring car; Disneyland Band, Disneyland Princesses and several sets offering guests and items such as a balloon vendor, popcorn vendor and the like.

One big disappointment is the train. A beautiful operating N Gauge Disneyland train had been designed with prototypes being tested when they decided to cheap it out and use a repainted old Bachmann POC that runs poorly and does not look right. It comes with a passenger car and a baggage/passenger car from the old set.
