We here in the US have heard many candidates espousing their support for the following/preceding message this year. There was an inadvertant funny the other day on our local station. The time distance between the commercial and the acknowledgement was noticeable but the following message was right on top. Right after the "I'm Joe Blow and I approve of this message" was "Let us supply your November turkey!"
Do you think we call it 'casting a ballot' because they're usually full of characters?
