The December 2003 Popular Science mag has a long article comparing the two ships, with a 4 page spread comparing their weapons, displacement, tactical maneuvers etc. Great reading. It's a tie in to the Master and Commander movie, but very little of the movie is mentioned. Just the ships and how they operate.
One pic of interest is one of the carrier crane lifting an F-14D from the pier. Could make for a small scale diorama.
