Re: Air compressor feedbacks

I've been scouting around for air compressors for my badger 155

>airbrush. Can anyone give me pointers on how to choose an airbrush?

I'll assume you meant compressor since you already have the Badger 155. Get a smaller one that has a tank on it as your air reserve. Then you can power up the compressor and when it shuts of the tank will be full. You then control the psi through the regulator, if it doesn't come with one you'll have to buy one seperate. Check how noisy the motor is, most folks don't want the noise. Finally, you really are going to need a moisture trap in your humid climate. hth

Thanks for the input. Yes, I found a smaller one but there is no regulator. I still want to know the consequences of the absence of a moisture trap. Thanks.

O.K. I bought a 4 gallon tank type from SEARS, complete with regulator and gauges, just under $200 on sale. As to the moisture trap, here is the scenario. You are happily spraying your beautiful model, you have just about completed your beautiful smooth finish when; SPLAT! The airbrush discharges a glob of water onto the formerly beautiful smooth finish. This is a real mess, no matter what kind of paint you are using. Trust me, get a moisture trap. It usually has the 1/4NPT threads and fits in the line. Has a spring loaded valve to allow it to be emptied every now and then.

Hmm... I get the picture. Messy!

$200, ey? It's a good thing I didn't buy one there. I could buy compressors at 75% cheaper in my country. I would've hated myself for lugging around a heavy compressor halway around the world in my luggage only to find out I could buy it cheaper here and spare myself the agony. LOL. Aside from that I wouldn't be able to save a few dollars to bring back home. Dollar value is rising by the month along with gasoline here.
