ISTR someone here a while back talking about a scratch built Me 334 they were attempting & seemed disappointed to hear that there was at one time a resin kit for it already. Well, Hannat's now has the A & V kit in stock.

You can thank me with any donations that you think are appropriate. I finished my 334 after a couple of weeks and it came out looking sweet. Its probably no contest winner, but I build for me, not no steeeenkin' judges, and I'm satisfied with the results.

Oh? The only reference I can find is for a paper project "Ar334", and no connection with Messerschmitt at all. Its there a typo in this thread??

I suspect the designation is in error. The design is the Lippisch P.07-101/103 of 1942.

Yeah, the Special Hobbies kit is mostly plastic with resin details, builds up the thing with Jumos but has the extended wing span for the BMWs or possibly the various alternate engines.

what I have read about Lippisch, he worked with Messerschmitt as a leading expert on tailless flight. His designations and Messerschmitt's might have been different, but it would have been the difference between a design study and a (almost) production aircraft.

No there are no typos in this thread, because there is virtually no factual content. Oh, there may be something entitled 'Me 334' or 'Ar
334' or 'Lippisch P.07 etc.etc.', and there may even have been been preliminary sketches on real vellum, as opposed to schapps-stained napkins, but you can lay odds there was no significant engineering time spent, nor full-size mock-ups, much less metal cut for prototypes. The beauty of this to the modeler is that no matter what you do to the expensive resin you receive from the clever purveyor, it will be as likely to be correct as anything anyone else might choose. After all, look at initial design studies for the Wellington, B-25, A-20, Do 335, P-80, F4F, Halifax, P-35, and so on. In all these cases, the production aircraft differed from the initial concepts more or less radically in appearance, configuration, predicted performance and role. The odds that this or any other initial design study would actually resemble the combat-committed article three years later is not all that high. 334. Error or not, that's what it's called there.
Yeah, I looked up the sight to see what youall were talking about. The "Me 334" is almost certainly a fictional designation and the design was never more than a preliminary study that was never acted on. The only Lippisch pusher wing that got any actual work done on was the Me329 twin-engine machine.
Kid of like a drawing that I scored from a "Air Trails" magazine that was a year older than I am (AT=01/46). It was a side view of something called a North American Project EA-181 and was a P-51 with the cockpit and engine areas reversed. Last year I came across a Bell Project 3 in this setup (original aircraft was the P-39) that built up nicely, so I might thry this one this year sometime.

Aren't y'all talking about the Me 264? Except the SH kit is plastic & it has a twin tail, not a butterfly tail. Wasn't the 364 a 6 engined version?
