I was looking over by built collection, which contains several kits I built around 20 to nearly 30 years ago. I recalled a few that I was disappointed in how small the kit was, in 1/72 as these are, as to what I had expected, having not checked the real one's dims prior to the purchase, especially for what I paid & I was wondering if any of y'all had made the same 'mistake'. The 3 that I have in mind are: Frog Ar-234. In the early-mid '70s, ISTR these were sort of expensive compared to the usual American kits. I expected a kit about the size of a B-25 or B-26, & it ended up about like an Me-262. Next is the Heller Mirage F-1 kit I got in the early '80s. ISTR it was kind of pricey then too I expected an F-4 or F-105 sized kit. Lastly, the Hasegawa F11F of the early '80s. Sucker looked like it should be about the size of an F-4 or F-105 as well. It was fairly cheap, IIRC. Maybe even the MiniCraft release.

When I were a lad, a mate of mine and myself both bought 1/72 Hasegawa armour kits. He bought the jagdtiger, I bought the Hetzer... Same size box, same price. You could fit a couple of Hetzers inside a Jagdtiger...
Having said that, it started me deliberately collecting smaller kits, Pz 1 & 2, T70s, and aircraft like the I-16, Pits Special, etc.

My sister mentioned once that she was disappointed with the size of a model named Lance-
when will they leave off half the exhaust and call it an F-20? ;-)
Plans? What plans? They must have been drawn freehand. :) BTW, that F-5 does say it's an 'E' on the box.

I have two 109's and an A-4 from Starfix. I think I've started muddling through both 109's, one for sure, but the A-4 is still a virgin. If you're serious, I'll let you have them for the princely sum of......please, please take them away, Ill give them to you, just please take them away!!

Ya know, I could see putting some effort into a Merlin kits; not much else available. But a Starfix? There's all else to chose from. Only suitable for a kids first build (assuming they fit!) hth

I have two remaining from the gift that my son bestowed upon me and I'm holding those because I see possibilities. The two in question are the AlphaJet and the 'F-5E' which is really the prototype F-5. Mind you, I'm not saying how much of the kits may be replaced before I'm done.
