Re: CADand Vista

Let's not freak out yet guys. If anyone has played with the beta version of SW for Vista it clearly states that it has to run with "software OpenGL" so your graphics card is basically taken right out the performance boost. I would imagine by the time SW or any other is "officially" released, the drivers will be writen for the new OS optimization.

Be patient and wait for the developers to tackle the new drivers and optimizations before reading any of these early claims.

I'm not talking about zooming and spinning a image around the screen, I'm talking about rebuild PERFORMANCE!

Do you understand the difference? I'm not sitting here showing my boss/clients a spin/zoom show, I'm interested and I'm talking about rebuild PERFORMANCE, i.e., producing data.

Ya gotta luv it!!?!?!?!?!?!?!? It's kinda like,.. big government,.. let's add sumore s*it to make it more efficient!!

But, then,... you're right,.. let's wait,....and wait,.....and wait,.....oh,.. maybe in the meanwhile we should upgrade the sys, yeah, a 64 bit sys will do it... no, we need more ram to counter the POOR performance????

One can always run the Hardware Validation Tool MSoft has to determine if the hardware you have is going to be supported by the drivers and whatnot they come up with.

All this for what? What is the big attraction? That is what I don't get. I compare MSoft operating systems to tornados. You pretty much can't determine where they will hit. You duck and cover when they do and you learn to pick up the pieces later.

When something is "optimized" is is supposed to run faster.

You can't make an emulation layer run faster unless you SERIOUSLY upgrade the hardware. OpenGL on Vista will NEVER be good unless Microsoft implements true OpenGL.

So, yet again, Microsoft hides poor and bloated code with better hardware.
