As an alternative, you might want to consider just adding a hatch pattern to your part in drawings. I use this, and other hatch patterns pretty frequently.
Here is the hatch pattern "code" for Diamond Plate that I found on the web. Add it to the end of your SldWks.ptn file which is located in the SolidWorks\lang\english\ folder.

It would appear with SW2005 (at least) and SP1.1 & 3.0 (at least) that sheet
