SOLIDWORKS 20004

BUT SOME HOW I THINK EVERY BODY GUESSED THIS ONE IF YOU HAVE INSTALLED IT.

In 2003 it seemed they where making advancement in speed now the are slowing down. It sure looks like this sofware is going backwards. I am back to watching my task manager performance graph in the lower right hand corner to see if solidworks is done. what a ______ joke. Bill

I know I know, I've said it before but here I am holding a salt shaker...

On the same hardware with the equivalent settings, 2003 was ~10% slower than

2001+ and 2004 is ~10% slower than 2003. Many of us don't think lightweight is an acceptable strategy, in it's current or past form, and that has been their defense of "improved performance".

There, I feel better now.

Bill,

What SP are you running? There were some MAJOR drawing slowdown issues in some of the earlier SPs - 2.1 seems to work OK (apart from the huge amount of time you have to wait while you install it).

I have been doing a huge amount of my models as weldments, rather than assemblies, and have found this to greatly improve the modelling time (if you set up your weldment templates correctly they will auto populate the cutlist - without any additional input from the user), but drawings are definately slower than previous releases.

Merry :-)
