Solidworks files to customer?

My customer wants to put our products into their ProE system. How can I just send them the shell of an assembly? I don't want to send the "guts". This used to be available using step files.

Now I understand SpeedPak is the tool to use. Is anyone sucessfully duplicating with SpeedPak what used to be done with step files? If so, how?

Speedpak is NOT the tool to use. SpeedPak is for increased performance in your drawings not for file export.

While in your assembly do a file > save as and for save as type select Part (*.prt, sldprt). Then select the radio button for what you want to save, most likely Exterior Faces. If ProE will not read that file save your newly created exterior face file again as an IGES or STEP file and send to the customer.

Cheers,

Anna

Thanks! It's not perfect (some exterior surfaces dissapeared) but it's the best I've seen so far.

The SpeedPak tip was direct from Solidworks tech support.

I really appreciate your help.
