mastercam files to solidworks viewer???

Hi all,

I have an associate who has asked me, as a solidworks user, to help him with a problem.

He uses Mastercam and he has a customer that he wants to communicate model with using solidworks viewer.

Mastercam can write parasolids but obviously not .sldprt files. Is there a workaround for him that does not involve using solidworks?

It appears to me that there is not, since solidworks viewer only opens native solidworks files. Maybe someone can suggest an alternate path here?

Thanks,

Zander

No it cannot be done with SW Viewer. He can buy one of the many viewer programs that allow this at a cheaper price a couple hundred dollars.

There are Solidworks translators available for mastercam. Do a search for "SW04Convert.zip"

If I understand your question it sounds like your customer doesn't have SolidWorks but is trying to use the SolidWorks viewer to allow someone to see parasolid models saved out of Mastercam. That won't work.

How about the free Hoops3D viewer at the below link. It's very good for parasolid files and definitely the right price. The graphics/viewing functionality from these Hoops3D viewing products is what E-Drawings uses to do all of it's cool graphics related things. Good stuff.
