The literature that accompanies this Swag says that you can program it to launch two websites depending on if you hold it down for one second or for three seconds.

I was joking with the guys at work about why one would want to lose a USB port and valuable desk space for this sort of thing, but it begs the question - if you have DO have two websites you would want to launch this way (for instance, the NORAD alert site if you saw missiles coming in, and the NORAD stand-down site when you realized they were just Canadian geese), how does one set up custom websites on this bit of swag?

Any ideas? We spent five minutes on the problem, couldn't figure it out, and when it comes to free junk that's about all that's justified. If anyone else invested more-or-more-efficiently and worked out the custom website setting, please let us know. You will be saving the earth from another few ounces of gaudy landfill.

you know I bet this is not as innocuous as it looks.. I figure the they have been sending out subliminal messages in podcasts.. and this object is a cunning plant...SW marketing will be able to send out activation signals and users will rise from their desks on command, face Concorde, and shout "MY SCREEN IS BLANK! ALL PRAISE OUR LEADER.

I'd like to know... Does it blend? The sledge hammer is too fast, and fire on a thing that small won't be very gratifying. Firecrackers would be good though... explosions are always good.

If ya'all can wait until spring, I'll post a video hurling it from my next generation trebuchet (duct taped to a brick of course, though the trailing USB cable could provide a nice tracer). I'll even add a little lighter fluid for a flaming hurl at sunset to Micheal Bay it up for ya'all.

I'm glad fcscuper (dying to know the genesis of that moniker) also tried to look into how to reprogram it with our same poor result.

Having the ability to launch up to two websites (two! wow it's great here in 2008!) with a large piece of plastic that hogs desk space and a precious USB port seems to me to be kinda stupid (favorites, anyone?), but shipping it with both of the options sending you permanently to the same site is an extra level of brilliant stupid. I don't know about you folks, but as it stands right now I have to give this one the award for worst...swag...ever. A small pad of grid paper seems inspired in comparison (and let us all admit it... we used it)

Hey c'mon ... SWAG is SWAG no matter how useless it is.

I just spent 20 minutes surfing the internet trying to find out how I'd be able to program this damn thing ... no luck. But from what I've read this just doesn't work with websites ... you (supposedly) can program this damn thing to launch various applications and stuff. That is if it is programable ...

I agree with Neil though ... just wait ... in a few months after everybody has plugged them into their computers we'll all be hypnotized by SolidWorks (working with Dean Kamen) and the next thing you know we'll all be designing Robots.
