SW2006 x64 Edition

Well I'd say they are working to make Solidworks Multi core as evident in 2006 regarding drawing view rebuilding and loading in the background. Since processor speeds won't be going up much, this will be the only way to increase speed. I would expect 2007 to have more multi processor(core) support.

Why are only Opteron chips supported? I just upgraded a few months ago with a system that I had hoped to use SW64 on sometime in the future and unfortuneatly got a FX chip. Anybody know why they don't support FX?

Not certain but I believe Cosmos won't run on it.

How stable is SolidWorks in x64 (either 32-bit or 64-bit SolidWorks)? How about other applications? Is there enough driver support for printers, scanners, modems, etc.?

With reference to xp64, 2006 x64 is more stable than 2005 x32.

Lack of drivers is certainly a drawback. HP recently (few weeks ago) released a driver for the DesignJet 500.
