Updating a form

Sep 29, 2005 3 Replies

Hi I have drawn a part that uses a custom form that I have drawn and which lives in my design library. I have now realised that the form is slightly wrong so I went and modified it. Trouble is the part does not seem to update with the revised version of the form, it remains as it was. As this form is used all over the part with patterns as well it will take ages to put it back in individually please tell me there is a way to update it automatically.

Thanks

I would love to tell you that there is a way to update, but I'm afraid you've found one of SolidWorks' dirty little secrets. Why library features don't have check-box to either keep or not keep a link to the original is a great mystery to me.

Starting in 05 (I think) there is a checkbox "link to library part" in the property manager for the feature. Is this not what you're after?

Cool! When we upgrade to 06 (we're at 04 now) in the next month or two I should be a happy camper! Well, at least a happier camper.
