Can anyone shead some light on this problem? I have a fleet of H.O. scale Kato AC4400's all purchased about a year and a half ago. I lubricated the gear trains with Labelle plastic compatable grease very lightly and everything has been running smoothly. In the last month I have had failures of the top gear which meshes with the worm gear in two units. The stub shaft on the end of each gear is worn right to a point. Any serious ideas on this? Try contacting Kato Customer Support/Parts Dept. directly through their website. I always found them very helpful.

Go to "Consumers" tab, "Warranty Services" (link on the left), then click on the "contact us" text in the body of that document. That sentence is "It is also possible to contact us via our website. "
