Help finding information on Fort Street Union Station, Detroit

Hello all, I am trying to find information on the Fort Street Union Depot that used to be in Detroit for a layout being constructed for the time period of the 1950's. Plenty of information and pictures for the Michigan Central Depot but having a hard time finding information to model the Fort Street Union Depot. Any good photos or drawings available to help with modeling this building? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jim.

Images of America Detroit's Michigan Central Station Kelli Kavanaugh 2001

$19.99

Kavenaugh's book is loaded with over 110 scanned images of the 1913 Michigan Central Station in Detroit, many never before published. Over 50 views depict the interior during its heyday and sadly, after it was vacated. Enlarged images are unfortunately "grainy", but most postcard size ones are acceptable. The book is a history in pictures and certainly will satisfy the purveyor of architecture. Unfortunately, it is lacking in the great history of this building and more or less forgets the office floors; the only text are a short introduction and afterward. The Manning and Burton historical photos and floor plans, however are worth the price of the book. The first chapter briefly depicts the predecessor of the 1913 structure and nearby Fort Street Union Depot. This chapter could use some help as photos and data are available. A bibliography closes the compilation. MJC

Also found this publication that has building plans and you should try the citys archives and talk to the local historical group or city engineering / planning department for imformation. If they don't have anything try contacting the railways head office and ask for the railways historical office if they have one.

These are some leads to help you..Good luck

There is only one reference to your "Fort Street Union Depot" here in this site, however, it does have a world of real good photos re: Michigan Railroads that will enable a model railroader to get some good ideas to detail his layout right-of-ways.
