Life on the U.P., North Plate NE, coal trains

The first part of a two-part article about coal unit trains and the U.P. and the unions and men who operate them appears in this week's (Oct.3) New Yorker magazine. Fascinating stuff - lots of inside railroading information and lore. I never knew U.P. stood for 'unlimited parking'! :-) Buy it or go to the library and check it out.
