Anyone ever have a problem with these units vibrating over the rear truck after DCC was installed? There are no obvious things wrong such as rubbing wires or anything out of line. Ran well before decoder was installed.

I'll bet you just cut the pieces holding the light board off, didn't you?
See the Dayton N-Track web site for how you SHOULD have done it...
The chatter is caused by the gears not meshing properly between the rear worm and the truck gear tower. Adding shims to restore the support posts under the front of the motor cradle will bring the motor back to level and the gears back into mesh. Next time DON'T cut the motor support posts off!
Nect locomotive I'm doing (and preparing this kind of instructional aid for) will be the MicroAce C-type industrial switcher... it's about 2/3 the size of the SW9! Looks like there might be a "gotcha" in this one too...

Larry, If you are a member of the N Scale list check the archives. I seem to recall a thread about the gears not meshing properly after a decoder installation. After the first post several others then followed saying they had a similar experience. There is a solution to the problem and it is among the thread posts also. I don't have DCC so I didn't pay real close attention.

Nicely detailed and illustrated article, Joe.
