New BNSF logo

.. time for new decals!

I don't know if this paint scheme has actually been applied to this locomotive, or if it is just a photoshopped image:

Well, it looks dynamic, but i don´t think that it looks good on the Heritage Scheme...

It looks photoshopped to me... Secondly, it looks pretty darn stupid. Like something a first year design student would come up with, or someone's model railroad fantasy paint scheme. Wow, italicized "BNSF" with a wedge underneath. Big deal. This is when I'm glad I model a historical road...

Yeah, I think I said something similar on another board. I think the "new Image" is pretty bad. It is very amateurish and doesn't do anything positive for the rest of the livery. It looks like a poor attempt at copying the essence of the SP and Rio Grande graphics which disapeared into another carrier. I think BNSF has committed a real faux pas with this thing.

On a scale of 1 - 10, I would give this one a 6. A 6 is a pretty poor grade, but It could be worse. CSX gets a 6 and NS gets a 5 by comparison.

Kind of a take on the "swoosh thing" that is so popular with logos these days. I always liked the war bonnet paint schemes best but the new lettering doesn't look too bad on that squared off rolling pumpkin. Bruce

It doesn't fit with the rest of the color scheme. It looks like something out of the "Roger Rabbit" movie.

But, that is the current style (remember current graphic designers are in their mid 20s). Many older company logos have been stylized in the skewed or swooshed fashion.

It is a fad and it too shall pass. Many new logos (such as UPS, Burker King, Midas and others) annoy me.

Does anybody remember when all Airliners had a cheatline and they were all painted white on top? They looked elegant and majestic. Nowadays, all airliners look like toddler toys!

Personally, I don't like the Heritage Scheme (a.k.a. Pumpkin). For some reason it looks like crap, while the old Great Northern scheme in green and orange was a good looking paint scheme. What the difference is eludes me, but it must be some subtle change. For my money, the Executive scheme was the best thing that BNSF ever had for their locomotives.

I don't like the new logo...it just looks stupid. Oh well.

About the airliners, I agree with most of it. I do like the new United paint scheme and FedEx definitely looks better than whay they used to look like. I'd rather fly an airplane painted white with purple than an all purple plane. Yuk.

The new DHL paint scheme is ugly as well. All yellow? They look like flying bananas.

The flying Bananas were actually the Hughes Air West scheme.

True - the new United livery does look handsome!

FedEx is a toss-up - I slightly favored the old one.

But this is getting OT. Come to think of it - I made this thread OT !

Mark Newton would be very proud of me (that pompous bastard)! :-)

Now he wouldn't. He probably couldn't care less.

The logo reminds me of the pre privatisation Freightcorp livery in Australia. I only hope that the also don¹t pick their customer be dammed attitude that that operator used to have.

Why, did you do something to be proud of, Pete Ski?

Ah, no - just the same old bullshit...

I agree, at the speeds at which aircraft move, it doesn't matter what color they are painted. I just found it a tad odd that right after that particular incident, the airline involved chose to paint their aircraft in a total bright yellow scheme, as if to make themselves more visible in the air.

Since you have me killfiled, you probably won't see this but I just so proud of myself for digressing on a topic and actually acting like you!

You are my Off-Topic posting mentor and allmighty English language God! I wish I could be more like you are - not!

And it is so nice to see that you really care! Yeah, right... Peteski
