Sub roadbed

There isn't a standard-width sub-roadbed or roadbed. That depends upon your particular prototype's practice at the date you model and the location you are modelling. Sub-roadbed design depends on the terrain/surface, the weight to be carried and the particular materials available for construction.

If there is an NMRA standard, it will be a generalized dimension based on all the above factors.
