I also need to get out of here in early July and need cash for getting my 75 Merc ready for a long trip. The best way to help my cause is to help you with a better price. All HO products will sell for $3.49 a package with a minimum of ten units plus freight. see it on the web-site at

I think you should know that you have one of the dealer names incorrect on your dealers' page. Bellaire Roundhouse should be Houston Roundhouse. Bellaire Roundhouse was originally in the city of Bellaire, but when the model train store at the current location went bankrupt they bought it out, closed their doors in their original location and moved into the current one with an accompanying change of name.

Obviously someone who prefers not to be faced with the facts.

I've read Ann Coulter. Agree with her or not, she has the most extensively footnoted and cited books I have _ever_ read. Every single claim of fact she makes or speech or document she quotes is _very_ thoroughly documented at the end of the book, chapter by chapter, in excruciating detail. Her credibility is far higher than some relative unknown off the internet. That sig is nothing but wishful thinking.

No, she uses endnotes. Checking them you will find, among other things, that something in the text came from THE NEW YORK TIMES actually came from a PLAYBOY interview. That's why she uses endnotes. Most people don't bother. Gene ABV61-1043.001.HCB

Compared to the junkie, maybe so, but her bottom-line premise is that most of her readers don't have the intellectual curiosity to check up on her "thorough" "documentation."

Greg, I usually read footnotes and endnotes not because of any intellectual tendency but because of Will Cuppy. Cuppy a humorist frequently used footnotes that were often as funny or more funny than the text. Ever since reading "The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody" I always read any kind of notes just so I won't miss something juicy. Unfortunately most of the time foot notes and such just contain source information, or dry detail only academics could cherish. Never the less I read them just in case. Bruce

You have that right: I enjoyed reading him.

I think that I finally realized that footnotes are sometimes there simply to make someone *look* "academic" and "authoritative" after reading some of the Bermuda Triangle books. It turned out that in most cases they were all referring to each other.

Greg,

I agree completely. Many footnotes might just read " Because sombody said so". They would be completely accurate. Bruce

Ann Coulter, the Erich von Donniken of politics!

Only the naive and the true believers lap it up.

End notes or foot notes are useful for providing readers with more detailed info on a subject tangential to the theme of the paper. For example, if I were writing about electric powered trains I might cite someone who is an expert on Pennsy, someone who is an expert on New Haven, someone on the tubes, etc. That allows someone that wants more on the subject to find additional materials.

It is no more or less that. Because the documentation of knowledge goes in little steps, firmly impressed on the present state of the art, academics learn to explore the field and provide readers with a map of the available materials through references.

They should be used sparingly and never overquoted.
