OT - old bikes on the salt

I was impressed by this write up, interesting for those of us with occasional two legs and frequent two wheels - at least in our heads!

From "The Good, The Bad and The Weird" files were Hap and Mark of Santa Barbara, California. Their entry for the "top mph with smallest cc engine" prize was a real prize. This Land Speed Record machine, and we use that term with some reservations, started life as a Yamaha dirt bike. As you can see from the photos, it's been "slightly" modified. We won't go into all the details, suffice to say, its propulsion these days comes from a three and a half cc model airplane engine. Hap and Mark admitted they had over $300 and three months into their project bike. As if asking 3 1/2ccs to pull that heavy dirt bike frame wasn't enough, the team was saddled with running in the PSF (Partial Streamline, Fuel) class. The small, "we found it free," fairing and model airplane engine fuel pushed them into that class.
