Ye glods. That's almost protoypical. I used to put pre- decimalisation pennies on the GN main line. Even if you never found them again, there was a sastisfying copper imprint of the king's head, at about 25% magnifcation, on the track surface afterwards.
I think these is still a law in place that states you shall not deface currency, it=92s one of those archaic laws that classes it as treason and once made it punishable by death !
As the UK signed up to the 6th protocol of the European Convention of Human Rights , "The death penalty shall be abolished. No one shall be condemned to such penalty or executed." , you may get away with it.
Technically, the coins in your wallet do not belong to you; they are tokens, belonging to the Mint, which represent an amount of money. The amount of money belongs to you, but not the coins or notes.
Do they still have those machines @ Blackpool that imprints an image of the Tower on a coin ? They used to be the old penny but the last time I saw one it used 2 pence pieces.

In the 1970s they had one in the airship reception area at the top of the Empire State Building that took a US penny, split it in half, gave you half with the building printed on it and kept the rest to sell (or so the guide told us).

In the 1980s they had one that took two coins and gave you one back with an image of the ESB stamped on it. I still have one somewhere.

dinner parties ? The wife is a big fan of that =91Come Dine With Me TV=92 show. For those of you who don=92t know the format of the show it=92s about 4 or 5 complete strangers who are got together to compete against each other for a =A31000 cash. They each invite these others to their homes for a dinner party and th other give them a score out of
10 based on the quality of the food and the host. Best score at the end of the week wins.Some are the guests are, as Del Boy would say, =91right plonkers=92. My guess is they are =91plants=92 provided by the producers of the show ... but then again some people are liken that.
One chap cooked kangaroo another was a wine buff and yet another was a bread making =91expert=92 ?

The Empire State Building WAS completed on time AND under budget but it NEVER took paying passengers via airship. Why ? Wind !
