Making Roads on a hill

Hello all.. I'm currently building a high street on a hill. Buildings etc OK, thanks for previous advice. Usually I build roads using Woodland Scenics plaster, but as this is a severe slope I'm think of alternative ideas. One such idea is to paint the road with PVA and then sprinkle fine gray ballast over it. Anyone tried this, or anyone have any better ideas? Rob

could you make the road on the flat and then mount it at the angle you require once it's dry?

Plasterers don't seem to have much problem setting plaster on vertical walls, even ceilings, I've even managed it myself! If your plaster won't stay put on any road gradient then its way to sloppy, put less water in. Keith Make friends in the hobby. Visit Garratt photos for the big steam lovers.

Take 60, or 40 thou sheet plastic and use that for the road. Paint and weather to taste.

I dunno about the UK, but here I can buy sheets of plastic, in various thicknesses, in up to 4 x 8 sheets. Usually however, I buy off cuts, say 2 x 4 feet. Great for making roads, scratch building buildings, etc., etc.

Oh and for the price of those "hobby" sized envelopes of sheet plastic, I can pick up a 4 x 4 or bigger sheet.

You could also add some suitable road coluor to the plaster mix before laying it. This will give agood base to work off.
