Removing Flux

What's best for removing Carr's Yellow label flux residue after soldering an etched brass kit?

Thanks,

There are several ways of getting flux residue off. A Glassfibre pen can remove it but they are sods to use as they shed tiny bits of glassfibre which are really sharp. Warm soapy water also works. Scrub it with a kids toothbrush, which are a little softer than adult ones. Some people use a mild acid solution to "pickle" the brass. I've been told Sarsons pickling vinegar works well. Of course you should neutralise the acid afterwards using a mild alkaline solution. Washing it with a little washing soda dissolved in water should suffice. Personally I've had good results with a ultrasonic cleaner using a mix of warm water, soap and a little washing soda. But a Ultrasonic bath may be out of most peoples pocket range (I use the one at work) HTH

I was thinking an alkali would be appropriate to neutralise the acidic flux, but just couldn't remember what I'd read.

That's the one I was looking for!

Thanks!
