Seen at Didcot

A very ropy looking Class 37 in mainline livery with copious rust, but evidently still in some kind of service, as it comes and goes.

Often seen next to a gaggle of EWS class 66s.

Just in case you were interested at all at all.

What scale? [or did you intend this for another group?]

No, I intended it for this group. It was a random musing. I rather like the class 37, and I thought some people might be interested, especially given the tendency to "blend" periods. Here a 37 and some

66s are working on the same line at the same time.

For the time being at least this is not a particularly rare happening with

37s working alongside 66s on a daily basis in several parts of the country.

On the other hand I believe three *stored* class 58s put in an appearance at Didcot today (or maybe yesterday) presumably en-route to be resurrected for work overseas. With the 58s being out of traffic for some time, that was a rare event.

Shows what I know, then, innit ;-)

That book is excellent, btw. I have been able to greatly expand the list of RTR stock I can adapt to my chosen line and period.

They were still there at about 8:45pm today (Sunday), I was most surprised to see them when I passed through enroute to Oxford.

Not seen this AM, but I could easily have missed them while manhandling my bike out fo the train. I am indebted to the group for alerting me to the fact that the 58 is a rare beast - I would never have known otherwise. I still prefer the smell of steam or the sound of a Deltic, though :-)
