Point motors

It can be awkward fitting motors through or under the baseboard, has anyone tried using the rod-and-sleeve method with Peco PL10 point motors? Does it work?

Works for me (as they say). However, I'm working in N-gauge,so I presume there's more "throw" on a point in OO-gauge. The baseboard is

7/8" chipboard and once I'd got the motors screwed into the *exact* position there's been no trouble for the last 15-ish years.

Where I can, I put the motors on the top of the board and link to the tiebar with fine steel wire in a tube - the tube being whatever is to hand, plastic drinking straws have lasted for many years, copper tube is usually recommended but I could never find my stock at the right moment... A CPU is a *must*.

Used this idea once on 0 gauge but held the brass tube in place by stapling it to the baseboard. The problem was the stapling gun crushed the tube down onto the steel wire inside and jammed it up. Fix it some other way to avoid grief!.
