York - Doncaster. HST or 91?

Aug 30, 2005 4 Replies

My no1 son wants a trip on an HST tomorrow from York.

  1. What's the shortest trip I can do without wasting too much time for a return? Doncaster or Northallerton?
  2. What would the York-Donny trains be? HST or 91 - or either?

The current plan is to get the 12:31 York-Doncaster which gives me 13:14 and

13:21 for the return - perhaps one of these will be a HST and one a 91?

Regards,

Adrian

I think you want Virgin cross country. For HST. GNER to Dooncaster is all overhead

Virgin don't use HSTs any more, all their Cross-Country services now use class 220/221 Voyagers.

GNER continue to use a fair number of HSTs on trains which terminate to the north of Edinburgh where lines are not electrified - Inverness and Aberdeen are two from memory.

John.

Look at the GNER timetables for KX-Inverness and KX-Aberdeen and reverse workings these are the HSTs that go through York at about that time. If memory serves the Inverness service goes through Peterborough around

12:30 northbound.
