110V MIG tricks

I have a 110V lincon 135 MIG and I like to share a few tricks I learned here, with other 110V owners.

if you are using fluxcore in the 110 MIG.... lincoln does not mention the use of .030 fluxcore wire. however the .030 flux makes it possible to use your "A" and "B" heat setting on your machineand you will be able to weld fairly thin material without burning holes through your work and making it look like swiss cheese.

I currently don't have shielding gas so I use flux on everything. .030 and .035.

An other nice tricks is to vary wire stickout, normally it should be

3/8" from the tip of the gun . By moving the gun tip closer to the work piece the weld will be hotter (more pentration) , and by moving it away it will be cooler. (may not burn a hole through thin material.) of course do this with in reasonable limits.

replace your garage 15 amp standard wall receptacle with a 20 amp ,available at any home improvement center. a 20 amp receptacle have heavier blades which is latching on to your

110Vplug. You will be able to tell the difference when you are plugging in you welder.

if you don't have fume extractor place a small fan behind you to blow the nasty welding fumes away from you.

just a few thing that came to mind, please feel free to correct or add to it.
