Advice sort on using a Ready Welder

May 22, 2006 2 Replies

I have just bought a Ready Welder II 10000 ADP-CS. I will be powering it with 2 x 12 volt batteries (24 volt) and using flux cored wire 0.09mm (0.035 inch). I intend to use it to repair the chassis of my Landover. A Landover chassis is mostly made from 2mm (0.08 inch) mild steel.

The Ready Welder instruction manual states that when welding steel thinner than 1/8 inch it should be used in "stitch mode" (also called globular transfer) to prevent "melt through". An alternative is to use 1 x 12 volt and 1 x 6 volt battery (18 volt).

I have previously used a Clarke 150 MIG which I "tuned" by adjusting the wire speed until I got a high pitched buzz sound like bacon frying.

Any advice on setting up and using the Ready Welder would be most appreciated.
