"Blue Back Rouge Paper"

Good afternoon, My father (he is 90) has asked if I Know of where he can get hold of some. Some of his steel tools are showing signs of rust (its probably me I've got rust fingers!). he tells me he used it back in the 30/40's for polishing hard materials (steel)

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Paddy

My cure for rusted tools is to generously spray rust preventative oil on everything. As for cleaning rust, I use a wire brush on a motor.

600 grit 'wet or dry' generously soaked in oil works wonders.

MSC has crocus cloth, but only sells it in 100 sheet packages. So that isn't much help.

I use Harbor Freight 91372 in my drill press for removing rust. It might be more aggressive than what he wants. The other possibility is real fine sandpaper. I think Walmart stocks some that is something like 2000 grit.

Pretty much anywhere you can buy automotive finishes , you can also find ultra-fine sandpaper . Got 1000 , 1500 , and 2000 wet-r-dry on the shelf awaiting my next paint job .
