DC setting on buzbox ???

Hi guys,

could any one explain please the advantage of getting a buzzbox with direct current DC capability, vs. just AC, in which application would I need to use DC on a buzzbox?

what advantage does it have ? smooter arc? is it worth the extra money. looking at the lincoln 225 AC bozbox and lincoln with AC/DC, also hobart ac only and one with AC/DC

thanks

You don't often *need* DC, but it's nice to have.

Yeah, DC is nice.. if you could only have one (DC or AC), I'd say you'd be better off with AC, but once you get used to running DC you'll use it most of the time.

The cases that come to mind where I'll switch from DC to AC would be if I've gotten hold of some magnetized steel or if I'm getting arc blow that I can't deal with.. AC is also good for thin stuff, you can get a softer heat with it. For my purposes, DC is used most and AC is for when I need the difference it offers.
