Back in the stone age of radio, the 19-oughts, GE made high-frequency alternators for radio transmission, were some of the cleanest methods used to produce RF back in those days. Took a pretty good sized powerhouse to spin one, though. They used large diameter, but short, fields and armatures and lotsa poles. I've got a book from that era with some of the hardware used. Not sure they ever got up to 1000 Kc on commercial equipment but there were experimental versions that did.
