I got my Gopher getter assembled. Now I need to test it, but would like to do some controlled tests before using it in a tunnel. Can anyone suggest containers to use to try this on? I was thinking of a long length of pipe if I can find one. Any other ideas?
Thought of that first, just wondering if the melting plastic would gum up the works, or cause too much screaming. Actually, I thought I'd drill a 3" hole through some 3/4" plywood so as to put the sheet of plywood between me and the explosion. May do some tests this weekend. I've got neighbors who are very interested in the results. It's gopher time in Utah.
How do you confine an explosion? My first choice would be a long length of pipe with ends taped shut, safe for a couple of small exhaust holes to raise the gas/O2 concentration. This would let the blast go out the ends, and actually simulate what would be occurring underground when the thing is actually used in those circumstances.
Indeed. Took myself and two friends most of one summer to pay for all the windows in a commercial garage. Someone had the bright idea to light off a garbage sack filled with aceteylene.

I have never seen one above ground. My lag has dug out a couple now, and is quite proud when she does this. She really gets excited. But they always stay in the tunnel eating the roots from the bottom up.
