Don't know the machine, but if its like mine, and its a bump start, not an HF start - press the nose of the tool down, pull the trigger twice and then lift the torch to strike the arc.

The Hypertherm 600 will require the proper PSI of air supply or it won't turn on. Check to ensure your compressor is putting out enough PSI.

Also ensure that you have the material grounded.

Also double check that you have all the torch tip components installed correctly. That will prevent the machine from starting.

Other than that, it is pretty straight forward.

Also make sure that the plug for the torch leads is seated well and the cup has to be screwed on well plus a lot of other things (I hope you noticed the safety on the trigger switch for one).

If you take apart the torch while the machine is on, you will trip the safety switch. You can't run the machine until you cycle the machine off and on.

You can't just fire into the sky with it - you have to be on top of metal. I assume you are using the 4 posted tip - if so - then place all four on a sheet - have the current turned up to max (to start with) have all lights one and be sure to have air calibrated when the current knob is cranked full counter clockwise - e.g. below zero amps - that turns on the air flow to cool longer than normal - or calibration. If air is turned on and with flow the pressure drops below minimum - it won't trigger. Put it in full air and adjust the pressure to point at least up or at the 1 o'clock position. Then adjust for max current - and with all four posts flick open the protection and press the trigger.

Also - I replaced my GND clamp with a 300 amp welder GND - one that uses three bars to trap material between.

I was beside myself when looking at the standard clamp for use on sheet. It is possible to get a good connection - but I found a better connection once changed.

Well i went thru it with the folk at Hypertherm and they were going to totally replace it. However, i took it to a retail store where they sell them. They were to look at it and see if me and the Tech guy missed anything. He found the problem. When i was initially inspecting it I checked to see if the torch parts were there. I took them out but replaced the electrode in the opposite direction. Anyway, the guy at the store turned it ard and it worked just fine.

Do you have the ground clip attached to shiny metal ? Is the torch touching the metal - the 4 post nose that is - ? You switch off the safety and then press don't you ?

The pressure was set with the current know set to zero or full counter clockwise letting out air - and the pressure is 70ish or the rated value at full flow ?

You do have consumables in the torch - I think that is only way to get that light green.

And the black torch cable connector turned and tight on the machine.

Have you modified the machine for use with another - like a cnc ? - maybe you forgot the adapter plug...

Do you have the current turned up to max current ?
