Where would I find out how you drill a hole straight though a pipe? I guess that a lot of the people in this group would know how it is done or where to look it up.

Take a center punch and ding the pipe to allow an inlet for the bit to sit in so it does not creep around. lube it up and drill straight in. If it's a larger hole or tough, drop a pilot hole in it so it finds the bigger path easier and it stops chips from getting the bit to pop out of the depression too.

Hey- I have been out of town on a hunting trip for a few weeks- Did I miss anything good besides the C02 tank Ig picked up?
If he wants it centered , V-blocks are also a good idea ...
I assume you mean centered through the pipe. Clamp a v-block to the drill press table that you've previously adjusted perpendicular to the arbor. Place a dial indicator in the chuck. Turn it to alternately contact both sides of the v. Adjust until equal.

clamp a piece of angle in a vise on the drill press so it looks like a V.Set the vise so the drill bit hits in the center of the V.Camp the pipe in the angle and drill through. It sometimes helps to get the bit started if you draw file a flat spot on the pipe after you clamp it in place.
With v blocks, one simply turns the drill bit perpendicular to the groove in the bottom of the V..and adjusts so that both cutting edges of the bit touch the sides of the V.
Serviceable V blocks may be simply made from L steel turned on its back and accurately welded to a base. Then use the above method to center your work.
For welding..such homemade V blocks may be preferable to a pair of 6" Starrett blocks. If you splatter on them.it doesnt make your ass slam shut.

Yea, they shall scorn thee all the more. Rejoice in sharing what you have to share without expectation of adoration, knowing that sharing your treasure does not diminish your treasure but enriches it."
