over the years i've heard stories of overhead crane motors being ruined when they are hooked to a piece being welded. i have welded (accidentally) things before that were attached to an overhead crane but nothing bad happened to the crane. i have also heard stories of the chain attached to the work being fused together. does the building have to be grounded (as opposed to just grounding the work piece or table the piece is on) for the crane to get fried?. sorry if my question is a little vague. happy 4th everyone, cj
