Reparing Weber DCOE Carburetor

Hi,

I need to repair two Weber DCOE carbs, the previous owner stripped the threads of the grub screws holding the choke and venturie. My thoughts are to drill the threads our cleanly and then sweat an ally plug into the carb body, drill and re-tap. I was thinking of using one of low temp ally/zinc rods. Any advice would be appreciated before I destroy the cards.

Have you thought of a helicoil?

Hi,

Yes, but the thread on the grub screw is very fine and I have not yet checked to see if there is a helicoil available. Will do so now :

Ah, voice recognition software, yes? If so, what product do you use and how do you like it?

Hi,

Thanks for all the advice, I must admit that the idea of using "plastic" on the carbs offends my sensibilities. I can not use a Helicoil as the previous owner cut a metric coarse thread into the body and the correct replacement grub screw is metric fine : spell checker got me
