tool oil. (deleted)

No search engine turned up the oft-touted "Marvel Air Tool Oil" (deleted) Anyone actually _have_ a Marvel Mystery Oil product that SAYS "air tool oil" somewhere on the can ? (deleted)<

Fred,

Marvel Air Tool Oil does exist. Check in a store that sells air tools to professional users. My local NAPA auto parts used to carry it.

A Yahoo search for "Marvel Air Tool Oil" will give 150 results. The following URL is to a page that has the MSDS for Marvel Air Tool Oil...

If you can't find the Marvel Air Tool Oil locally, I would just use the Acme Air Tool Oil. It should work fine.

Hope this helps Ken

Like a previous poster said, check auto or industrial supply stores that sell air tools. I found mine at such a place for less than $4 for a quart can. Now if I could just find a replacement for the plastic snout that came with the can. :-(

If you can find Wallyworld you can find MMO.

The advantage I see with air-tool oil is that (if true) it 'removes gummy deposits'. I have found another brand of air-tool oil at walmart. . Arne, CT, USA .

Fred, There really IS a "Marvel Air Tool Oil". I have a quart labeled exactly that in my garage. I think your best bet is to find a local mechanics or tool store that carries ANY Marvel product and special order it.

Boy is that a lame-ass web site or what? No product search, no info on mavel oil, just a terrible site. Pretty pictures is all. Looks like the target market is purely college students with fast internet.

I get Marvel Air Tool Oil from a local independently owned auto parts store.

or go to google, type in Marvel Air Tool Oil and learn more than you EVER wanted to know about where to get it.

Yup, I got about that many hits too.

Problem was, _none_ of them were from a vendor, they were all simple hits on the words themselves, where many were in discussion forums and what not.

I re-ran the search with my search engine(s) re-set and got two hits on vendors, neither of which is local. None of the three NAPA stores I checked have it and it's not listed on their web site (not where I can find it, anyway).

I was in one of the major air tool distribution houses yesterday, and they don't have it.

If I have to I'll order it.

Thanks. Cheers, Fred McClellan the dash plumber at mindspring dot com

I'm amazed you can't find any reference to Marvel Air Tool Oil, nor that you have not seen it referenced here before. It's available as product #080 in 4 ounce cans. Manufactured by Marvel Oil Co., Chester NY.

Noted Engine Guru Clarence F. Lee has been suggesting the use of this product for over a decade that I know of. He states it's basically MMO with an added anti-rusting agent. He suggests MATO as an after run. He also suggests a 50/50 mix of MATO and ATF (auto trans fluid) for long term storage usage.

A Google search turned up 25,200 hits. Please do tell us this post of yours was a troll :-)

I find a liberal injection of ATF in an old engine an excellent way to limber up a "frozen" Diesel or glow engine. It dissolves all the crud inside, and does not prevent the engine from starting, which happens with other oils. Engines soaked with oil before storage, are well protected, especially if re-soaked and flipped every now and then to re-distribute the oil inside the engine.

I just typed in marvel air tool oil on Google and got several hundred web sites that sell it.

You should be able to get it or a different brand at Home Depot, Lowes, Payless/Cashways, Oles. etc builders supply.

The gummy deposits probably don't relate to model fuel residue.

Checked two, neither had the air tool flavor.

Gave up and ordered it online from parts-plus. Cheers, Fred McClellan The House Of Balsa Dust

No fish hooks in my hobby tool boxes, although I do use some of the stainless tackle fittings now and then to make cables..

Of course I've seen the many references here in the past, and I thought the Marvel can on the shelf in the building shed had ATO in it. Not. It's plain vanilla MMO.

I got a gazillion hits on the first couple of searches, and after checking a dozen sites realized that all the hits I got were the 'simple' sort, where the term was used in a discussion group, or was ad copy, or a reference, but no hits on vendors who actually had the stuff for sale.

Default XP Pro search engine configuration is nearly worthless. Fixed that toot damn sweet.

Got a half-gallon of the MMATO on order.

All done now.

Gonna get up in the AM, sit around a dead tree and eat candy outta my sock. Cheers, Fred McClellan The House Of Balsa Dust
