Extracting a gear from a speed 400 motor

Aug 21, 2003 2 Replies

Hi all,

I'm trying to transfer a gearbox from my old speed 400 to the one I just bought. But I have a problem with the metal gear ; I can't remove it from the old one. Is there a trick I can use to pull out this gear without breaking it ? :-(

With a pinion gear puller, no really........ Ask around, I'm sure someone in your club has one.

If you have access to a drill press:

  1. file or saw a slot in some metal that will slip between the pinion gear and the motor
  2. chuck a suitable size drill bit backwards and press out the motor shaft
